Public Student Loan Debt Hearings In Massachusetts

With student loan debt on a steady rise, coming in second only to mortgages, the Massachusetts Legislature is taking notice. Massachusetts is now 12th in the nation for the highest average student loan debt, prompting the Legislature to create the Sub-Committee on Student Loans and Debt of the Joint Committee on Higher Education. In an attempt to address this growing issue, the Sub-Committee is hosting a series of public hearings across the state to discuss student loan debt, the implications for students and their families, and possible solutions. Both administrators and students are urged to attend.

The hearings began in September, but a few more are left if you have not yet attended. This is a great opportunity to advocate for your students and your industry:

October 28, 2013: 10:00 am at Bridgewater State University

November 8, 2013: 10:00 am at College of the Holy Cross

November 18, 2013:  11:00 am at Berkshire Community College
