Dane Smith has 15 years’ experience in the field of financial aid. He has been able to learn a diverse range of knowledge in the different aspects of financial aid. His entry level position as a call center representative assisting families and students with the entire financial aid process set him up on the track that he is currently on. Dane was then able to transition into a financial aid counselor position where he would assist with all capacities of financial aid from awarding students, verification, appeals and meeting with student and parents to discuss options as well as complaints and escalations. During the most recent years he served as a Director of Financial Aid at a Graduate School.

In that role he managed all Financial Aid Disbursements and Reconciliation. He has 10 years of experience working with Ellucian/Colleague also known as Datatel. Dane has also worked with other systems such as Peoplesoft, SFP , Banner and CampusVue in relation to Financial Aid Management. He has several years of experience working with in COD Systems and addressing origination and disbursement rejects. Dane has been responsible for completing the yearly FISAP report as well as A-133 Audits. Dane is a Business Administration graduate of UMGC.
