On March 1, 2013, we will send the message class table “MESSAGTB” via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) to all user mailboxes. The Edconnect transmission software will automatically request, download, and import this new message class table with a user’s next connection to the SAIG network. Once the MESSAGTB file has been imported, the new message class table will be used from that point forward.
Message Classes
We will add new message classes for the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System, Central Processing System (CPS), and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) System.
COD Message Classes
We will add COD System 2013-2014 Rollover Message Classes to the message class table. These message classes are the standard COD System message classes rolled over from the previous award year to the 2013-2014 Award Year.
In addition, we will add new cyclical message classes for the COD System to the message class table. These message classes are for the new Direct Loan School Account Statement (SAS) Disbursement Detail On-Demand Report, the TEACH Grant SAS Disbursement Detail On-Demand Report, and the Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) Report. The new SAS on Demand reports allows a school to request and receive SAS Disbursement Detail independent of the school’s monthly SAS file. Beginning March 23, 2013 these new message classes will be available for all active (non-archived) award years. The Pell Grant LEU Report identifies Pell Grant-eligible CPS applicants who are approaching or have exceeded the 600.000% LEU limit.
Rollover COD System message classes and the new cyclical message classes are fully outlined in Volume II, Section 2 of the 2013-2014 COD Technical Reference and will be in use after the March 23, 2013 implementation of COD System functionality for the 2013-2014 Award Year.
CPS Message Classes
We will add a new cyclical message class for the CPS to the message class table. This message class will be used in conjunction with the 2013-2014 version of the ISIR Analysis Tool. The 2013-2014 ISIR Analysis Tool will be released later this year and will be available through the FAA Access Main Menu of the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site. Please monitor the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site about the availability of the 2013-2014 ISIR Analysis Tool.
The message classes are as follows:
Message Class | Description |
IATX14OP | IA Tool SSN List Export |
TPD Message Classes
We will add new non-cyclical message classes for the TPD System to the message class table. These new message classes will be used by the TPD servicer and external partners to exchange borrower notifications.
Note: While these non-cyclical message classes for the TPD System are being added with this update, Federal Student Aid will inform the community when these messages classes can be used for testing and processing.
The message classes are as follows:
Message Class | Description |
TPDNOTIN | TPD Status Notification – Input |
TPDNOTOP | TPD Status Notification – Output |
Update, Import, and Installation Information
The message class table update will be transparent to users except for an Import dialog box, which will appear on a user’s screen and display the progress of the import as the file is importing.
The new message class table file will also be available on the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site in the “Software and Associated Documents” section.
Using Multiple Networked PCsÂ
If a user has performed a network installation of EDconnect, the new message class table will import into the EDconnect database on the user’s network drive. Individual workstations will all have access to the new message class table after it has been imported.
Using Multiple Stand-Alone PCs
If using the current version of EDconnect, the message class table will automatically download and update EDconnect on each PC that initiates a transmission.
