Crystal Gary
Crystal Gary (Crys) is known for her robust laugh and contagious smile. Her laughter and smile help her colleagues get through the long days and nights of processing financial aid during peak times.
Crys has over twelve years of higher education experience. She began her career as a Financial Aid Clerk and progressed to a Financial Aid Specialist and has been responsible for verifications; processing students’ eligibility with federal and state programs such as PELL, SEOG, Federal Work-study and Tennessee Promise; SAP; awarding and packaging students; the Hope Lottery scholarship; and other financial aid functions. She was also the coordinator of the Tennessee Educational Lottery Program.
Remaining in compliance is at the top of mind for Crys. She stays abreast of the latest trends and federal/state regulations by attending various trainings and conferences, including FSA, TASFAA, NASFAA and SASFAA. As a consultant, Crystal trains new employees, assists with implementing new policies and procedures, and streamlines processes and procedures. She also reviews and makes decisions on students’ SAP appeals and is well-versed in Ellucian Banner 8 and 9 system, COD, NSLDS and e-Grands systems.
