With over 25 years of experience, Robert Merino is an accomplished financial aid executive. After starting as a student assistant, he worked his way up to becoming a bookkeeper for the Financial Aid department. As he gained experience, he was promoted to the position of Financial Aid Counselor, Associate Director, Director, and Dean of Financial Aid. He has led significant organizational and system changes to comply with regulatory requirements. In addition, he has experience working with program reviews.

Robert possesses advanced technical skills. He was responsible for the implementation of the Banner Financial Aid module. In addition, he maintained the necessary releases and patches for Banner’s Financial Aid module.

He is an active member of both local and state organizations. He was appointed to serve as President of the Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators for 2021-2022. He served as Chair of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Financial Aid Advisory Committee. In addition, he served as Chair of the Texas Guaranteed Center for Community Colleges Advisory Board.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting, an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Systems, and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Management of Information Systems.
