Jackie Smith joined HEAG in December, 2022 and has worked in Financial Aid for over 15 years. She has two Bachelor Degrees from Columbia Southern University; one in Healthcare and the other in Business Administration. She started her career at Fayetteville Technical Community College as a Records Clerk and moved her way up to a Default Management Counselor for the Financial Aid Department and Student Services Department.

She later transitioned to Fayetteville State University, where she was a Coordinator and oversaw three Department of Education and North Carolina State programs; Financial Aid Specialist, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Specialist and Consortium and Dual Enrollment. She moved to Dallas, Texas and accepted a position with Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) as a Compliance Specialist. She managed seven DCCCD Financial Aid Offices.
Jackie enjoys interacting with parents and students and helping them with day-to-day higher education needs. Her motto is “it truly takes a village” and she stands by that saying! She enjoys counseling students and assisting them with understanding college policies and procedures. Having a background in Student Service allows her to anticipate what the students need and help them achieve their goals. She’s excited to be working with other Financial Aid administrators and colleagues at HEAG.
