Late this afternoon, the United States Senate adopted (by voice vote) Amendment # 72 to H.R. 933, the Continuing Resolution (Continuing Appropriations Bill) that will fund the federal government through the end of Fiscal Year 2013 (September 30, 2013).  Senators Inhofe (Oklahoma) and Hagan (North Carolina) proposed Amendment 72 which would essentially restore military tuition assistance funding by the Department of Defense.

The Senate considered a number of amendments today along with the continuing resolution and only a handful passed, including #72.  The House is expected to accept the Senate’s version of the CR along with Amendment #72 tomorrow.  It is expected that the FY13 continuing resolution including Amendment #72 will be signed into law by President Obama by the end of this week.  The current continuing resolution is set to expire at midnight on March 27th, 2013.
