Olker Alva is a senior Student Financial Services executive with extensive experience across for-profit, non-profit, and public higher education institutions. He has held progressive leadership roles including Regional Director of Financial Aid, Director of Financial Aid, Director of Student Accounts, Director of Veteran Services, Senior Central Processing Specialist, and Financial Aid Administrator. As a Regional Director, Olker oversaw financial aid operations for six campuses while leading a fully remote, multi-campus team, ensuring consistency, compliance, and operational excellence at scale.
He holds both an MBA and an MSE and brings a comprehensive, end-to-end understanding of enrollment management, funding strategies, regulatory compliance, and student success operations. His expertise includes federal and state financial aid, Veteran Administration benefits, programmatic and institutional accreditation, best practices implementation, recruiting, onboarding, staff development, and training. Throughout his career, Olker has been recognized as a critical contributor to student retention, institutional stability, and student success.
Olker has led high-impact operational turnarounds, including inheriting and resolving a backlog of more than 1,000 incomplete student files in fewer than three months while maintaining compliance and audit readiness. At one small institution alone, he collected over $2,000,000 in past-due student balances in a single year. Across his career, his collections and revenue recovery efforts have resulted in substantially higher total recoveries through improved processes, compliance-driven billing practices, and effective student payment strategies. He also designed and implemented strategic operational plans that increased student payments by over $1,000,000 in a single year.
A proven organizational builder, Olker has recruited, screened, and successfully filled several critical roles across multiple departments and institutions. His workforce development efforts strengthened operational capacity, improved cross-functional collaboration, and directly supported enrollment growth and institutional stability. Notably, at every institution where he has served, he achieved at least a 90% completion rate of student financial aid files prior to the start of the academic term: ensuring audit readiness, operational efficiency, and a seamless student experience.
In addition to overseeing reporting and audits at institutional, state, and federal levels, Olker is an active member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). He is highly proficient in major student information and financial aid systems, including CampusNexus, Anthology, Regent, STARS, and Ellucian.
Olker’s career in Student Financial Services is grounded in executive-level leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a disciplined focus on compliance, efficiency, and student-centered outcomes.
